Program: When Our Bodies Get Sick
Arthur W. Frank
is professor of sociology at the University of Calgary, located in
Alberta, Canada. Most of the discussion in this program reflects ideas
found in his first book, At the Will of the Body (original 1991;
Mariner Books edition, 2002). His other books are The Wounded
Storyteller: Body, Illness, and Ethics (1995) and The Renewal of
Generosity: Illness, Medicine, and How to Live (2004). Dr. Frank
lectures internationally on illness experience, narrative, bioethics,
and health care. He is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
