Program: A Crayon Labeled Flesh

The Rev. Heidi NeumarkRev. Heidi Neumark currently serves Trinity Lutheran Church of
Manhattan (ELCA). Trinity is a multicultural, bilingual community with
ministries that include: Mujeres en Progreso, a Latina support group,
Amigos en Pie, a resource center run by and for immigrants, the
Creative Learning Center after school program and Trinity Place, a
shelter for homeless LGBT youth.

For nineteen years prior, the Rev.Neumark was pastor of
Transfiguration Lutheran Church in the South Bronx. She was a founding
member of South Bronx Churches, an ecumenical community organizing
group that has trained local leaders, built hundreds of low-cost
homes, and established a top ranked public high school.

Pastor Neumark also enjoys writing. Her experiences in congregational
and community ministry in the Bronx led to a highly acclaimed book,
Breathing Space: A Spiritual Journey in the South Bronx (Beacon
Press). More recently, she has a chapter on ministry at Trinity in
Getting On Message: Challenging the Christian Right from the Heart of
the Gospel.

Heidi is married to Gregorio Orellano and they are the parents of Ana
and Hans.
