Program: Domination Is Anything But Holy
Since 1976,
Marie Fortune has been a pioneer in
the field of religion and domestic violence and a leading national
expert on sexual exploitation by religious leaders. She is the
Founder and Senior Analyst at the Seattle-based FaithTrust Institute
(formerly the Center for the Prevention of Sexual and Domestic
Violence). Rev. Fortune is an ordained pastor in the United Church
of Christ as well as an author, educator, practicing ethicist and
theologian. She served on the National Advisory Council on Violence
Against Women for the U.S. Department
of Justice from 1994–2002 and
currently serves on the Defense Task Force on Domestic Violence for
the US Defense Department. She is also the editor of the Journal of
Religion and Abuse.
