Mary Fuller is a
retired middle-school principal who lives in Buzzards Bay, Maine. Her
love for crèches was inspired by the late Anne Austill, “the crèche
lady.” Fuller has collected crèches from her travels and receives them
as gifts—right now she has about 190 crèches. Several years ago Fuller
began making her own crèches, hollowing out baked bread loaves and
placing a nativity scene inside. Fuller uses bread because Bethlehem
where Jesus was born is composed of two Hebrew words, Bet and Lechem,
meaning House of Bread.
